Responsibilities

Administration & Operations is responsible for overseeing a broad scope of the overall department. This includes maintaining fire incident records and reports, helping develop and maintain policies, procedures and Standard Operating Guidelines, and overseeing information technology. Other responsibilities include maintaining personnel records, payroll, and communications equipment. 

Staff

Fire Department staffing consists of 50 personnel operating out of two fire stations. It is staffed mostly by paid-on-call personnel along with full-time contracted paramedics / firefighters. The Fire Chief is full-time and also serves as the Director of the Village's Building Department, and Emergency Manager. A Deputy Chief, three Captains and five Lieutenants make up the paid-on-call Officer staff. Paid-on-call personnel are all Village residents or otherwise work for the Fire Department with the contract service. All firefighters must become State of Illinois Certified Firefighters and licensed Emergency Medical Technicians.

The Fire Department currently operates:

  • Two engines
  • One rescue engine
  • One quint ladder truck
  • Two advanced life support equipped ambulances
  • Two staff cars
  • Two utility vehicles

The Fire Department is a member of Mutual Aid Box Alarm System (MABAS) Division 10.
