[ARCHIVED] Sewer Work to Begin Soon in the Forest Preserve

Forest Preserve Bemis Woods

The Village of Westchester has begun construction on their Sunnyside Sanitary Sewer rehabilitation project.  A portion of this project is performed in the forest preserve along the trail with entrance at Jackson.   Unfortunately, this project will impact La Grange Park residents who utilize the Salt Creek Trail system.  Significant construction will start after the New Year and will last for several months.  During construction access to the pedestrian bridge over the Salt Creek is anticipated to remain open.  However, temporary closures may be warranted to keep users safe.  Part of the work will include lining the Water Reclamation District (MWRDGC) sewer from Brainard Avenue west to Salt Creek.  Plans are to keep Brainard open to thru traffic, occasionally it may be down to one lane with flaggers in the immediate work zone (at Jackson) while the connection is made.    Stay tuned for additional updates as we receive them from the Village of Westchester.
