The Village’s Green Electric Aggregation Program has been ongoing since 2018, wherein participating residents and small business owners pay exactly the ComEd rate. The community benefits from Renewable Energy Credits derived from wind and hydro generators representing residents’ power consumption.
Some residents who are not currently participating, or have recently moved into the Village will receive an opt out notice mailed March 8, 2023 so they may participate through the current term. Any resident who previously opted out will not receive this notice.
The recipients of the notice will be enrolled with MC Squared at their May 2023 meter read date unless they take action to opt out. Many La Grange Park residents have been enrolled from the program’s beginning. They pay exactly the ComEd rate, receive one ComEd bill, and are charged no fees as there is zero added cost for this benefit of Green Energy.
Illinois deregulated the monopoly electric supplier in 1997, becoming one of the first Customer Choice States for electric supply. ComEd delivers supply but no longer generates power. As a result of this market competition, Illinois residents have enjoyed some of the lowest rates in the nation.
Through this program, the Village of La Grange Park earned one of the highest rankings in the USA by the EPA as a Green Power Partner—again, at zero added cost to residents and the Village!
The Village of La Grange Park has, through group purchasing power, enabled further electric savings in the early years of aggregation, and still continues to seek opportunities (through competitive blind bid) for savings or other no-cost added benefits. Should the Village renew the program again at its November 2024 term end, residents and small business owners would be notified of the supplier and terms in late summer 2024. For further information, call Illinois Aggregation Consultants at 312-751-2202 or email sdurling@ilagg.com.

Below are responses to commonly asked questions:
Is this a scam?
No, the Village has an ongoing Green Electric Aggregation program with Chicago-based supplier MC Squared Energy Services (MC2) at exactly the ComEd rate. There are no added costs to residents or the Village.
Why am I receiving this notice?
Your electric account is not currently participating in the program. This is your opportunity to join. You may have moved since the program started, or may have returned to ComEd default service from another supplier.
What do I need to do?
You need not do anything. However, if you do nothing you will be automatically enrolled at your May 2023 meter read date and will continue to receive one ComEd bill and pay exactly the ComEd rate – no fees.
If you do not want to participate in the Green Electric Aggregation program, you can 1) return the postage pre-paid card included in the mailing; or 2) call MC2 at 855-740-9991 M-F, 8a-5p; or 3) via email: LaGrangePark@mc2energyservices.com.
[If a resident feels they should never have to take action to opt out, and never again wants to be notified of an aggregation program—even with savings or other benefits—they may reach out to hello@ilagg.com, and the Village consultant can confirm their permanent “evergreen” opt out. They’ll be removed from all future mailings, but upon their direct request.]
How to opt out?
Three ways: returning the pre-stamped postcard or contacting MC2 at 855-740-9991 or LaGrangePark@mc2energyservices.com. The program brings benefits to the community at zero added cost, and no fees to join or leave. Residents who wish never to receive any notice of any future electric aggregation savings program or green renewable energy program, may request to be placed on a permanent opt out list by emailing hello@ilagg.com and providing their name and service address.
I thought electric aggregation was a savings program. Will I save money?
No, but you will never pay more than the ComEd rate. The Village received blind competitive bids for a savings program, but all offers were higher than ComEd. The Village continues to test the market for potential savings at the end of each term. The current term is to November 2024.
What is the benefit to me?
The Village is providing a green alternative at zero cost. Your historic energy consumption is offset by Renewable Energy Certificates (RECs) and MC2 has also provided a civic contribution to support sustainability or other projects as the Village deems, at no added cost to residents. To learn about RECs, visit ilagg.com/sustainability to view a video clip by the EPA.
Through this program, the Village has achieved the highest ranking by the EPA as a Green Power Partner!
You are not obligated to participate and may shop around to seek other offers by visiting www.PlugInIllinois.org, a website established by the Illinois Commerce Commission. Be sure to read all contract terms carefully.
Someone called my home to sign me up.
Beware! No one from ComEd, MC2, or the Village will ever call or visit you to sign you up. Never reveal your ComEd account information to solicitors who say they represent the Village, ComEd, or MC2.
Will this cost more money?
No, there are no fees to you or the Village. The rate will always remain at exactly the ComEd supply rate.
