Street Repair & Capital Projects
Each year the Village of La Grange Park undertakes the rehabilitation/reconstruction or replacement of portions of its infrastructure. This includes streets, sewer mains and water mains, and to a lesser degree public building improvements and replacement of the vehicles and equipment responsible for maintaining the infrastructure.
How We Determine Which Streets Are Replaced
Every block in the village undergoes a periodic survey to determine its physical condition including drainage structures, curbs, gutters and given a rating score to compare with other blocks. This allows all streets to be targeted for improvements based solely on need. In addition to the physical appearance of each street a thorough history of underground utility failure such as water-main breaks, sewer collapses / blockages, etc. is also conducted. The necessary work is optimally performed when water and sewer repairs or street replacement can occur simultaneously.
Streets Slated for Construction - Summer 2018
The Village will be completing nearly three and on half million dollars in paving projects this year. Construction will commence from April to November 2018. The project includes rebuilding sewer structures, replacement of curb and gutter, and grinding and removal of old asphalt and installation of new asphalt. The Village Board awarded a contract to K-Five Construction to complete the Village’s fourteen street segments of road paving.
The paving project will be split into two phases with the first starting in early May and the second phase scheduled to commence after school lets out for the summer. Both phases will be paved prior to school resuming in the fall. Landscape restoration will follow paving and will be scheduled based on weather. Sod may be delayed to avoid extreme heat. Residents will be notified by the contractor prior to removing access to any driveway.

Additional Projects
Additionally, Federal funds have been acquired to complete Harding Avenue from Brainard to Kemman. The State of Illinois has awarded this paving contract to Arrow Road Construction which is separate from the Village paving road program. Construction will start in mid-April and conclude in early June. IDOT also plans to bid out resurfacing of Sherwood from La Grange Road down to Harding. This paving project will likely take place later this summer with completion in early fall. We will provide updates to all of these projects in e-briefs as they become available.
Road construction may pose some challenges traveling throughout town, we ask that residents be extra cautious when navigating through and around construction areas. Please be mindful of workers, equipment and exercise patience when you encounter delays or re-routing.
