Automatic meter reading (AMR) is the technology of automatically collecting consumption, diagnostic and status data from water meter or energy metering devices (gas, electric) and transferring that data to a central database for billing, troubleshooting and analyzing. The Village is continuing the implementation of the Water Meter Replacement and AMR System Program. The purpose of this program is to implement an automated meter reading system for all water system accounts. The new system allows water meter readings to be automatically transmitted to the Village Hall thus eliminating the need to manually read each water meter and improving accuracy, customer service and efficiency for all residents.
There is no charge for your participation in this mandatory program. The Village has contracted with Core and Main of Carol Stream, IL to supply and install the new water metering system. Their subcontractor, United Meters Inc. (UMI) a licensed plumbing contractor, will install water meters and the meter reading system transmitters throughout the Village. UMI installers are licensed plumbers. If you are unsure about any suspicious activity related to this Program please do not hesitate to contact the Police Department non-emergency number at 708-352-2151.
Please be advised that the installers must have adequate clearance around the water meter which might be located in your basement, crawl space or utility closet. Under normal circumstances the replacement will take approximately 30 minutes during which time your water will be shut-off. The Village requests your cooperation when UMI contacts you to schedule an appointment. Compliance with this program is mandatory for all water users, we appreciate your patience and participation during the program implementation.
